Hello Design Lovers and Happy Spring! 🏡💕

This winter has definitely dragged this year, at least that’s what it feels like for us in New Jersey. Luckily, Spring has sprung and we’ve been feeling the warmer temperatures here and there.

I’m sure lots of you have been itching to get your spring cleaning going (I know I have!). For some, it can be a daunting experience but I personally enjoy a good spring cleaning. I’ve broken down some important items to clean throughout each room in the house. This should only take a day or two depending on the size of your home.

Bathroom Wipe down your walls and ceilings

Make sure to dust off your walls first because yes, vertical walls tend to attract dust, not just flat horizontal surfaces/walls. Mix dishwashing detergent with warm water to clean satin and semi-gloss paint finishes. Make sure to have another bucket filled with clean, warm water to “rinse” and then dry away any water drips with a towel. You can use a sponge to clean the walls or an extendable wall washer like this one from Amazon.

You’re going to want to remove everything in your fridge and freezer. Take out all of the food, condiments, etc. and ideally it’s best to turn off your fridge and let it cool down before you use warm water to do a deep clean (the glass and ceramic could crack if they’re cold and come into contact with warm water). Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of hot water then rinse with a damp cloth and wipe clean.

Clean your stove/oven

Take off any removable parts and scrub with soapy steel wool. Make sure to do a thorough cleaning of every nook and cranny.

Rent upholstery cleaning machines or hire a company to deep clean your sofa and chairs

Just because they don’t look dirty, it doesn’t mean they aren’t. People tend to forget about cleaning their upholstered pieces which is very important for overall hygiene.
