Hello Design Lovers! 🏡💕
A boho living room is all the rage lately and I've been getting asked by clients, family and friends on how to create that style for their own spaces. I'm going to break down the key components to achieving this highly desirable look!
Let's first get a better understanding of what makes a boho space. It's an eclectic, cozy, warm, inviting style that plays off of natural materials, earthy tones, organic shapes, lots of texture, layered fabrics, and brining in some greenery (plants).

I like to start out by selecting the sofa and accent chairs. When designing a boho look, I want to incorporate leather pieces so I would select either a leather sofa and then break it up with fabric accent chairs or vice versa. Then I would look for some cool tables (coffee table, side tables, media consoles). Bring in some warmth with wood tones and maybe even mix in metal tables to break up the wood. So I would try to find a wood table and metal side tables or a different, contrasting material/color or vice versa.
Next, I'll begin to look for a rug to anchor the design. I'll be on the lookout for lots of earthy, warm colors, fun patterns and designs, and I might even want to layer in a natural fiber rug on top of the patterned rug for some dimension.
Now for the fun part: accessorizing! Here's your chance to get creative and don't be afraid to be bold! I like to mix in some varying patterns and textures with my throw pillows, blankets, and curtains. If you can try to incorporate hints of the same colors from your rug and art work, even better!

When deciding on what kind of art to look for, lots of different mediums are fair game! You can go for minimalistic abstract pieces, vintage landscape pieces, scenic photography (like the desert), etc.
Tie in your design with unique shaped table or floor lamps, coffee table books, cool decor pieces, candles, and whatever else you feel like adding so that your walls and flat surfaces aren't left bare.
Finally, finish off your design with some plants (the more the merrier)! Snake plants are easy to care for and they even purify the air. They'll make a great addition to your boho living room.
This should give you an idea on how to create a boho living room. I'm sure your creative juices are flowing- I know mine are! I'm ready to start designing!
